About Us

In October 2026, a small group of Nomads for peace and love will set out on a 14-day pilgrimage, approx 950-1000 miles by bicycle-riding from Rockmart, GA to Independence, MO Community of Christ temple. We will arrive at the temple to share in the peace forum retreat being held Oct 16-18th 2026. We hope to raise awareness for the pursuit of peace, the sacredness of creation and all are of immeasurable worth.

We ride as Nomads for Peace and Love-Peace Ride 2026, inspired by the spirit's call to live simply, love boldly and walk (ride) gently upon the earth. Also recently, inspired by the Venerable Monks walk of peace, we continue to carry the seeds of peace with us as we ride. This journey is not a race, but a prayer in motion-a witness to what it means to live to gospel of peace and love through action.

Our ride is grounded in three enduring Principles of Community of Christ. Pursuit of Peace, Sacredness of Creation and Worth of All Persons.

We will seek to connect with other members with other members and congregations on our way in hopes of hospitality and sharing our journey of hope and peace. We will travel through Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Illinois and Missouri.

We invite you to be part of this journey through prayers, encouragement, financial contributions and sponsorship to help our small group with equipment to be fully successful, host homes to stay on the route. Any of this helps us share the message of peace and love and supports ministries that seek to restore wholeness in our communities and our world.

Together, we can move peace from an idea into a live practice.
